JEFFERSON – Perry C. Oliver, 89, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013.
Mr. Oliver was born March 31, 1924, in Jefferson, a son of the late James Thomas "Tom" and Martha Ann Sullivan Oliver. He was a retired employee of Dupont, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Perry was a lifelong member of Fork Creek United Methodist Church and was a member of Macedonia Masonic Lodge 239 for over 50 years. He enjoyed farming and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Dorothy "Dot" Kirkley Oliver of the home; one son, Freddie (Donna) Oliver of Jefferson; two daughters, Brenda (Wayne Yoder) Horne and Janice (James) Watts, both of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Perry "Eddie" Price of Lancaster, Crystal Watts (Jim) Paolone of Rock Hill, Amy Watts (Terence) Livingston of Piedmont, Melonie Watts (Adam) Lyles of Lancaster, Nikki Oliver (Phil)  Journagan of Jefferson and Dale Oliver of Jefferson; 12 great-grandchildren, Cassie and Hailey Paolone, Makenzie and Kendall Livingston, Abigail and Averi Lyles, Bryce Oliver, William Spafford, Hayden Journagan, Summer, Zach and Payton Oliver. In addition to his parents, Perry was also preceded in death by four brothers, Walter, Reece, J.T. and Paul Oliver, and by six sisters, Lizzie O. Pittman, Lelia O. Sullivan, Emiley O. Carnes, Eula O. Moore, Nettie O. Plyler and Bessie O. Rollings.
Services are 2 p.m. today, June 14, at Fork Creek United Methodist Church in Jefferson, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation was Thursday at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, Chesterfield.
