Mr. Rance Ben Parker Sr., 95, of Lancaster, widower of Frances Small Parker, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at home. They were married for 61 years until her death.
He was born Sept. 25, 1918, in Lancaster, a son of the late Ransom Walter Parker and Mary Elizabeth Rowell Parker.
Mr. Parker was a member of First Baptist Church of Lancaster. He served our country in World War II as a soldier in the U.S. Army Air Force, where he was a turret gunner on a bomber. After the war he entered the dry cleaning business and was involved with it for 61 years. Mr. Parker was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and also loved any type of dancing.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Parker is 3 p.m. today, Aug. 29, at Lancaster Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Randy Hatcher officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mr. Parker is survived by a son, Randy Parker and his wife, Carol, of Lancaster; a daughter, Kay Parker Neal and her husband, Bruce, of Rock Hill; four grandchildren, Trent Parker and his wife, Amy, Sheri Parker Gamble and her husband, James, Robby Neal and his wife, Carrie, and Ashley Neal Gomez and her husband, Servando; and five great-grandchildren, Molly, Jack and Banks Neal and Elias and Quinn Gomez.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, T.A. Parker, Eugene Parker and I.W. Parker; and a sister, Rona Rowell.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today, Aug. 29, at Lancaster Funeral Home.
