Richard Thomas 'Dick' Hassett, 72, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2012, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 30, 1939, he was the son of the late William Hassett and Thelma Roblee.
Richard graduated from high school in Attica, N.Y., and proudly served our country for four years as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard. He had a long, successful career in the electronics industry in Wayne, N.J., and spent his retirement in Lancaster. He was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church, the church men's group, and the Lancaster Rotary Club. He was devoted to his family & friends, a beloved member of his community, and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by a brother, William. He is survived by his wife, Geri, of Lancaster, a son, Timothy and his wife, Lucy, of Montville, N.J.; a daughter, Maureen, her husband Joseph; and his three grandchildren, Lauren, Nicole and Stephanie of Budd Lake, N.J.; and a brother, James, who resides in Florida.
A memorial service to celebrate 'Dick's' life was held on July 31 at Christ Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Gordon Hamilton officiating.
The family has requested that those wishing to honor 'Dick' please make donations in memory of Richard Thomas Hassett to the Hospice of Lancaster, 901 W. Meeting St., Suite 201, Lancaster, SC 29720.
