Shelby Jean Mathis Adams, 68, of 585 Mosteller Drive, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at Springs Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Adams was born June 1, 1945, in Aiken and was a daughter of the late Milo Mathis and Viola Hiott Mathis. She worked for Springs Industries as a weaver and was a member of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church. Mrs. Adams is survived by daughter, Tammy Dove and husband, Mike of Lancaster; son, Ray Adams and wife, Kathy of Lancaster; brother, Billy Ray Mathis and wife, Karen of W. Columbia; brother, Charles Mathis and wife, Janice of Lancaster; brother, Hillman Mathis and wife, Joyce of Bath; sister, Helen O'Shields of Aiken; three grandchildren, A.J., Lane and Krystal; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Haley; and special companion, James Nash. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, R.T. Adams; brothers, Rufus and William Mathis. Services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Jesse Adams, with interment in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 22, at McLean Funeral Directors of Lancaster and at other times, the family will be at 585 Mosteller Drive or 674 Dahlia Road, Lancaster.
