Sara C. Baker, 91, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Sharon Towers. She was born on Aug. 20, 1921, in Chester County, the daughter of the late Charles Samuel Caskey and Louise Kirkpatrick Caskey. She was the wife of the late Harry Boyd Baker.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her sisters, Margaret Caskey Beckham of Indian Trail, N.C., and Carolyn Caskey Mahaffey of Charlotte, N.C.
She was predeceased by siblings, Charles Caskey Jr., Kathryn Caskey Mosteller and Betty Caskey Adams.
She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with extended family and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A native of Lancaster, Sara moved to Charlotte in 1944. She is a graduate of Lancaster High School and Kings Business College in Charlotte. Mrs. Baker joined Chevrolet Motor Division on Jan. 21, 1948, and worked there until she retired in 1980. She was also an active member of Oakhurst Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir.
A service to celebrate the life of Sara C. Baker will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 21, 2012, at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at McEwen Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Sharon Memorial Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Oakhurst Baptist Church, 5037 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28205. Condolences may be left at mcewenfs.com.
