Thomas Jackson "Tommy" Satterfield, 71, beloved husband of Beth Satterfield, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Thelma Henderson Satterfield and DeWitt Joseph Satterfield. His childhood was spent in the Clemson/Six Mile area. He was a graduate of Daniel High School and Anderson Junior College.
Mr. Satterfield spent his career working for Daniel Construction Company, which became part of the Fluor Corporation. He traveled extensively for his work, visiting almost every state in the Union and many foreign countries. He was able to share his travels with his family, making a home in Saudi Arabia twice and a brief sojourn in Izmir, Turkey.
He enjoyed playing golf with his friends for many years. He loved reminiscing about memorable games and special friends he shared his time with on the links. His great love for the game of football is widely known, especially his affection for the Clemson Tigers. He passed this love onto his daughters, who both attended Clemson University.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years; beloved daughters, Lucinda Rivera and Dawn Mahoney and her husband, Michael; and two granddaughters, Reagan and Sophie Mahoney.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Milton J. Satterfield; and his sister Margaret S. James.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Greenville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, Greenville, with visitation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the Greenville United Way, American Diabetes Association or the Greenville ARP Church.
