Mrs. Willie Huffman Dean, 97, of Lancaster, widow of George William Dean, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

She was born April 29, 1916, in Burke County, N.C., a daughter of the late Wade Phillip Huffman and Vassie Mull Huffman. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and was retired from Springs Industries. She was a loving mother, sister and aunt. She was faithful to God and her church.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Dean is 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mrs. Dean is survived by her son, John W. Dean of Lancaster; a sister, Ruth Thurman of Lancaster; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Hope Dean; two brothers, Forest Huffman and Mull Huffman; two sisters, Thelma Sutherland and Minnie Clough; and a niece, Evelyn Corley.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Immanuel Baptist Church and other times at the home, 1507 Hillcrest Ave., Lancaster.
