Wylie Penegar Sr., 49, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 24, 1962, in Lancaster County, the son of Howard Penegar and Mary Sikes Penegar. He was the husband of Patty Sinclair Penegar and father of Wylie Jr. and Brooke.
Wylie, the owner and operator of Extreme Automotive, was an avid hunter, fisherman and Christian singer. He organized the Jammin' for Jesus Christian Concert, and was an active member of Canaan Land Ministry, having served as worship leader and in men's ministry. Wylie was a devoted husband, father and family man, with a humble heart and reached out to help anyone in need.
Wylie is survived by his parents, Howard and Mary Penegar of Lancaster, his wife, Patty Penegar, of the home, a son, Wylie Penegar Jr. and a daughter, Brooke Penegar, both of the home, a sister, Melody Penegar of Lancaster and many nieces and nephews.
The celebration of life funeral service for Wylie will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at the chapel of Hartley-Burgess Funeral Home by the Revs. Carl Williams, Bill Morgan, T.C. Holmes, Anton Shipp, and Howard Penegar. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family of Wylie will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Hartley Burgess Funeral Home and in lieu of flowers suggests memorials be made to a college fund for Wylie Jr. and Brooke at Founders Federal Credit Union.
