Mr. Leonard Eugene Snipes, 69, of Lancaster, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at his home.
He was born June 20, 1944, in Lancaster, a son of the late Willie Edward Snipes and Clarine Eubanks Snipes.
Mr. Snipes was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church and served his country as a seaman in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from Springs Industries Grace Power Plant. Mr. Snipes enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Snipes is 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church with the Revs. Tim Larrimore and Dr. Tommy Bryson officiating. Burial will be private.
Mr. Snipes is survived by his wife, Linda Davis Snipes of Lancaster; two sons, Mike Snipes and his wife, Brenda, and Willie Snipes, all of Lancaster; two daughters, Tammy Burgess and her husband, Kevin, and Rhonda Cauthen and her husband, Brian, all of Lancaster; nine grandchildren, Anna Snipes, Michelle Snipes, Katie Snipes, Jennifer Belk, Jillian Daniel, Caleb Cauthen, Landon Snipes, Patrick Burgess and Noah Burgess; and six great-grandchildren, Gracie Pate, Jayden Daniel, Timothy Shrader, Alexis Hunter, Justice Belk and Tucker Belk.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Snipes; and two sisters, Willimae Wallace and Margaret Ellis.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church and other times at the home, 494 Holiday Road, Lancaster.
