HEATH SPRINGS – Mrs. Nettie "Boots" T. Bowers, 80, of Heath Springs, widow of Bennie Roy Bowers, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

She was born Nov. 28, 1933, in Union, a daughter of the late Fletcher Tucker and Hazel Haydoc Tucker.
Mrs. Bowers was a lifelong member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was a devoted mother who loved being with her children and grandchildren.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Bowers is 2 p.m. today, Feb. 7, at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Patrick Clark officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Bowers is survived by a daughter, Robbie Jean Knight and her husband, Billy, of Heath Springs; two sons, Ronald M. Hinson and Donnie Hinson and his wife, Anne, all of Heath Springs; a brother, Herman Tucker and his wife, Phyllis, of Lancaster; two sisters, Bertie Hinson and her husband, Hampton, of Heath Springs and Velma Mackey of Lancaster; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe "Buddy" Tucker, Billy Tucker and Earl Tucker.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1616 Bayspring Road, Heath Springs.
