Mr. Gil Travis Hammond, 47, of Tybee Island, Ga., passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014, at CMC-Pineville.

He was born Sept. 7, 1966, in Lancaster, a son of Mary Jo Faulkenberry Hammond.
Mr. Hammond was a member of White Springs Baptist Church. Gil was a loving son. He was a designer of kitchens and then went on to design bedroom furniture.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hammond is 11 a.m. today, April 2, at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Anglin officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Mr. Hammond is survived by his mother, Mary Jo Hammond of Lancaster; his dog, Abner; special uncle and aunt, Claude J. and Betty Vincent, of Lancaster; cousins, Perry and Melonie Vincent and their children, Hannah and Grant, and Myron and Vicki Vincent and their children, Tyler and Aaron, all of Irmo; and a special family friend, Allen "Henry" Banks of Lancaster.
