Samuel "Sammy" Funderburk, 73, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend peacefully passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014.

Born on Sept. 26, 1940, in Pageland, he was the son of the late Preston Wells and Alma Lillian Evans Funderburk.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Rape Funderburk; his son, Sam Funderburk Jr. of Pageland; sisters, Shirley Bruce and her husband, Bobby, of Rock Hill, and Sally Catoe and her husband, John Carrol, of Pageland; a brother, Johnny Funderburk and his wife, Carol, of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Hannah and Megan Funderburk, both of Lancaster; special brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Sylvia Rape, Roger and Nancy Rape, Diane and David Jordan, Jackie Rape, and Mike and Diane Rape, all of Lancaster; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Sammy was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Clifford Rape.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 11, at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 6713 Plyler Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28112. The Rev. John Gerstenmier and Janet Tyson will be officiating.
