Mrs. Lucy Ann "Lou" Hayes, 82, of Lancaster, widow of Jack J. Hayes, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

She was born Dec. 12, 1931, in Seneca, a daughter of the late Morrall Bailey and Lucille Rodgers Bailey.
Mrs. Hayes was a member of the Church of the Good Shepard United Methodist Church and of The Poets. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Hayes spent most of her life in Lancaster where she was a teacher for more than 35 years.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hayes is 3 p.m. today, April 18, at the Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mary Green officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Mrs. Hayes is survived by a daughter, Joy Hayes of Lancaster; two grandchildren, Robert J. "Robbie" McGuirt of Charleston and Blair C. Cauthen of Lancaster; and a special niece, Lisa K. Evans of Lancaster. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Timothy B. Hayes; and a brother, W.M Bailey and his wife, Barbara Bailey.
The family will receive friends at her home, 510 Plantation Road, Lancaster.
