Nancy Ernestine Lucas Harmon, 73, "Sis" to all who knew and loved her, slipped away from our loving arms on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.
Sis was born in Lancaster on July 1, 1941, to the late Hazel "Red" Lucas and Elizabeth Roof Lucas. She was a member of Alpha Life Church of God of Prophecy, where she taught Sunday school, was director of missions and choir director.
Sis was known for caring for family and friends in their time of need. Her greatest joy was taking care of children. She loved and cared for many children in her home until retiring.
A service to celebrate Sis' life is 2 p.m. today, July 11, at Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Marie Proctor and Brian King officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Franklin Edgar Harmon Sr.; two sons, Franklin (Eddie) Harmon Jr. of Winnsboro and Hazel Lee Harmon of Lancaster; a daughter, Melody Gonzalez of Lancaster; four brothers, Robert Lucas and his wife, Linda, Hazel Lucas and his wife, Betty, Carl Lucas and his wife, Joann, and Joe Lucas of Lancaster; two sisters, Becky Lyles and her husband, Clyde, of Lancaster and Mary Lea Lipscomb and her husband, Ed, of Fort Lawn; two granddaughters, April Broome and Nicole Deese and her husband, Jeffery, of Lancaster; five great-granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two daughters, Katherine Elizabeth Harmon and Kimberly Dawn Harmon; and a brother, Jimmy Richard Lucas.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home, 961 Anderson Drive, Lancaster.
