Garrett Pope Obituary
He was born June 27, 2005, in Galloway, N.J., a son of Garrett Russell Pope Sr. and Stacy Lynn Dever Pope.
Garrett was a student at Indian Land Middle School. He enjoyed football, soccer, riding bikes and most of all playing with his friends. Garrett loved his family.
Garrett is survived by his parents, Garrett Sr. and Stacey Pope; his grandparents, Donald Pope and Susan Shaw of Holmdel, N.J., Charles and Karen Dever of Myrtle Beach; a brother, Jackson Pope; and a sister, Mollie Pope.
The celebration of life funeral service for Garrett will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the chapel of Burgess Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster.

We have never met, but I read the story of Garrett and am just heartbroken for you. From his picture, you could tell that he was a handsome young fellow, and I'm sure he had a bright future ahead of him. I know you are all devastated over this tragedy, and I do wish I knew some words of comfort that would help right now. Just know that there are people, who don't even know you, who are thinking of you and praying for you, and asking God's blessings for your whole family.

Our daughter, Maddie, played with Garrett often at the Palmeris house. She adored him, as did we. He was so kind and loving and so sweet to the girls. On days they were done playing, he'd accompany Ava walking Maddie back home. They'd be goofing off the whole way, and we could hear their laughter before they'd ever make it to our yard. Sometimes piggyback rides were involved! Ava and Garrett were running a lemonade stand one afternoon when Maddie was coming home. She asked to be dropped off so she could help. I don't remember how successful they were, but I do know that was one of her favorite memories from this summer -- she had so much fun with both of them. Every memory she has shared has been so positive and happy, and our hearts are so broken. We all miss him dearly. He has left a very firm imprint on our lives and will be forever remembered. Our prayers are with his family.
