William Chandler Long, 65, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born Oct. 16, 1947, in Hickory, N.C., a son of the late John Clark Long and Miriam Alice Shannon Long. Mr. Long served as a U.S. Navy SeaBee in Vietnam.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Long will be held at 3 p.m. today, Nov. 14, 2012, at St. Luke United Methodist Church with the Revs. Bill McCowen and Hal Melton officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mr. Long is survived by his wife Carroll Long of Lancaster; two sons, Robert Long of Woodstock, Ga., and John Long, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Lancaster; and a grandchild, Tobias Long. He was preceded in death by one brother, John David Long.
The family is receiving friends at the home, 2477 Kendlewood Drive, Lancaster.
