Grace Vernon Hasty Gay, 97, passed away Tuesday, March 26, at her home. Mrs. Gay was born in Kershaw and was a daughter of the late Lonnie Lewis and Ella Frances Rollins Hasty. She was the widow of Curtis Clyde Gay. Mrs. Gay was a homemaker. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling places, listening to music and gardening. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda G. Sims; a son; Wayne Gay and his wife, Krishna, all of Kershaw; four grandchildren, Tammy S. Hinson and her husband, Shane, Kevin Gay and his wife, Adina, Travis Gay and his fiancee, Keri and Anna Diaz; a great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Feliberty; a sister-in-law, Ruby Williams; a brother-in-law, Cleveland Sowell; and her special friend and caregiver, LeAnn Sowell Walters. She was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Sowell; two brothers, Carl Hasty and L.A. ""Bert"" Hasty; and a son-in-law, Bobby Sims. Funeral services for Grace Vernon Hasty Gay were 3 p.m. Friday, March 29, at First Baptist Church, Kershaw, officiated by the Rev. Bryant D. Fersner, with burial in the Hanging Rock United Methodist Church cemetery.
