FORT MILL – Mrs. Irene Taylor Knight, 84, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at home. Mrs. Knight was born in Lancaster and was a daughter of the late John Ed Taylor and Ida Moore Taylor. She retired from Springs Industries and attended First Baptist Church. Mrs. Knight loved the Lord, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed bird watching, cutting grass, eating candy, drinking Diet Coke and watching television. Survivors include a daughter, Debby Martin; a sister, Lola Pruitt of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Steve Martin Jr. and Sharon Whetstone and her husband, Kevin, all of Fort Mill; four great-grandchildren, Trevor, Meghan and Macy Martin and Taylor Whetstone; sisters-in-law, Joann Adams, Ann Williamson and her husband, Bobby, and Gail Stogner; and brothers-in-law, Jimmy Knight and his wife, Mary Lou, Danny Knight, Charles Knight and Jerry Knight and his wife, Robbie Sue. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Knight, in 1977; and siblings, Thurlow Taylor, Cora Wright, Sis Totherow, Ruth Taylor and John Ed "Buddy" Taylor Jr. and Marion Harbin, who was raised as a sister. Funeral services are 4 p.m. today, March 29, at the First Baptist Church Chapel, 300 S. Market St., officiated by the Rev. Jeff Bedwell, with burial at Philadelphia United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1691 S.C. Highway 160 West, Fort Mill, SC.
