Wanda Joyce Mills Whitaker, 48, went to meet her Lord and Savior and to rejoin her mom and dad in their eternal life together on April 4, 2013. Mrs. Whitaker was born July 11, 1964, in Monroe, N.C. and was a daughter of the late James Emmett Mills and the late Mildred Lee Griffin Mills. Wanda loved working outside in her yard and had a passion for cooking, interior decorating and crafts; however, her main passion was being surrounded by her family. She worked for Olan Mills as a photographer. Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her husband of 24 years, Jeffery Whitaker; children, Whitney Whitaker and Brandon Whitaker, of the home; two brothers, David Mills and wife, Joyce, of Wingate, N.C. and Kenneth Mills of Pageland; sisters, Evelyn Ennis of Indian Trail, N.C., Lorrie Little of Wingate, N.C., Lesa Ratliff and husband, Roger, of Kannapolis, N.C. and Julia and Bobby Whitaker of Lancaster. Services are 3 p.m. today, April 7, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Jason Myers, with interment in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1841 N.
