Mrs. Leone Faile Steele, 88, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born June 23, 1924, in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late George Lee Faile and Wilma Newman Faile and was the wife of the late Robert Eugene "Gene" Steele. Mrs. Steele was retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church. Mrs. Steele is survived by a son, Johnny R. Steele, and his wife, Libby; three daughters, Jean Small and her husband, Donnie, Bonnie Denton and Hilda Plyler, all of Lancaster; three brothers, Joe Faile, Williford Faile and Robert "Sambo" Faile; three sisters, Virginia Rollings, Martha Watts and Mary Miller; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Linward Faile; a sister, Billie Knight; and a granddaughter, Lisa Joanne Murphy. The celebration of life funeral service for Mrs. Steele is 3 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at Hyde Park Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Charlie Simpson. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The family of Mrs. Steele will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 21, 2013, at Hartley-Burgess Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be made to Hyde Park Baptist Church, Wheelchair/Ramp Fund, 1898 Flat Creek Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
