Mr. James Harold Williams, 80, widower of Zulene Sullivan Williams, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
He was born July 5, 1932, and was a son of the late Freeman and Evelyn Blackmon Williams.
Mr. Williams was a very active member of White Springs Baptist Church, serving through the years in various capacities , including Sunday school director, Sunday school teacher, chairman of the deacons and a choir member. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the S.C. National Guard for 35 years, where he attained the rank of Command Sergeant Major. Mr. Williams was retired from Springs Industries and joined the staff of Cauthen Funeral Home and Lancaster Funeral Home where he worked for 29 years.
Mr. Williams is survived by three sons, the Rev. Tim Williams of Pageland, Wendell Williams of Lancaster and Dean Williams and his wife, Beth, of Huntersville, N.C.; a daughter, Annette Carpenter and her husband, Tim, of Indian Trail, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Jason, Adam and Lee Williams and Joanna, Hope and Merritt Williams and Greg and Megan Carpenter; and one great-grandchild, Andrew Williams.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Williams are 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at White Springs Baptist Church, officiated by the Revs. Stephen Owens and Tim Williams, with a military honors burial in Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 26, at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home, 835 Confederate Ave.
