Mr. Porter Lee Stacks, 79, of Lancaster passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born June 13, 1934, in Lancaster and was a son of the late Roy Lafayette Stacks and Myrtle Carnes Stacks. He was a charter member of Glenwood Heights Baptist Church. He loved his family, loved working in his garden and cutting his lawn. He enjoyed being outdoors and camping. Mr. Stacks is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie McNaughton Stacks; two sons, Phillip L. Stacks and Jeffery L. Stacks, both of Lancaster; a daughter, Janet L. Stacks of Lancaster; two sisters, Grace S. Powers and Nancy S. Hinson, both of Lancaster; two grandchildren, Melissa S. Catoe and her husband, Johnny, and Grant A. Stacks and his wife, Heather; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew Catoe, Zachary Catoe and Madelyn Stacks. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Ray Stacks and R. L. Stacks; and two sisters, Polly McCowan and Nettie Mixon. Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Stacks were 3 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Glenwood Heights Baptist Church, officiated by the Revs. Joe Reed, Steve Neal and Grover Mixon, with burial in Lancaster Memorial Park. The family received friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Glenwood Heights Baptist Church and other times at the home of Phillip Stacks, 829 Culdesac Road.
