GAFFNEY – Mamie Sanders Childers, 74, of 201 Holland St., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at her residence.

Mrs. Childers was born in York and was a daughter of the late James Sanders and Elsie Childers Sanders.
She was the widow of the late Jet Waltham Childers
Mrs. Childers was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith.
Surviving is a son, Lee Gunn Jr. and wife, Sandra, of the home; five daughters, Sandra Gilliam and her husband, Robbie, Sheila Gunn and her fiancé, Ray Broome, Patty Gunn, Heather Ellis and her husband, Cameron, all of Gaffney, and Traci Allen of Hickory, N.C.; a brother, Ronnie Sanders and his wife, Vicky, of Lancaster; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Randall Bradley; four brothers; a sister; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services are 4 p.m. today, Aug. 30, in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the chaplain Vernon Thornhill, with interment in the Oakland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. today, Aug. 30, at Blakely Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1612 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, SC 29340.
The family will be at the residence, 201 Holland St., Gaffney.
