Kenneth Becker Phillips(1927 - 2013)

Kenneth Becker Phillips, 86, of Kalkaska, passed away on July 10, 2013 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center - Long Term Care. Ken was born on Feb. 1, 1927 to the late Albert and Dorcas (Becker) Phillips in Kalamazoo.
The family moved and Ken was raised in Kendallville, Ind., but eventually made Kalkaska his home. He joined the Marine Corps and served in China at the end of World War II. Ken worked on the railroad for 35 years prior to retirement. He loved to travel with his wife of over 48 years, Luella; and he also enjoyed fishing, picking blueberries and hunting for mushrooms. He was a loving father and husband, and a friend to all.
Kenneth will be dearly missed by his wife Luella (Dalrymple); children Kenneth E. Phillips, Marla (Larry) Patterson, John (Suzi) Dalrymple, and Valerie (Terry) Baker; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, June Phillips; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Max Phillips.
No services are planned at this time; a Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. Ken's body has been donated to science per his wishes; after battling dementia, his hopes were to help further the education in medicine and help in his own way.
Arrangements were entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
