Susan Kay Walter Obituary
Walter, Susan Kay; 60; of Kalkaska; died suddenly at her home on Thursday, April 17, 2014. She was born on October 4, 1953 in Monroe, to Clinton F. and Kathleen L. (Heck) Walter. The family moved to Kalkaska in 1959, where she attended and graduated from Kalkaska High School in 1971. She furthered her education and graduated from Western Michigan University in 1975 with a Bachelor Degree in Music Education. She taught elementary music and third grade during her teaching career at Kalkaska Public Schools until her retirement in 2003. Sue was very active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 8684, where she was President for many years. She loved music and was very patriotic. Sue sang the National Anthem at many local events. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed playing games and cards, especially euchre. Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen in December 2012. She will be deeply missed by her father, Clinton Walter of Kalkaska; brother, Doug Walter of South Boardman; sister, Laura (John) Latham of South Boardman; nephew, Jason (Rebecca) Walter of Livonia; and many close friends. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in the Chapel of Kalkaska Funeral Home. Reverend Chad Hoover officiated the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project or to a . Arrangements were entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
