Harvey D. Carr II Obituary
Feb. 25, 1954-Dec. 6, 2013

Harvey D. Carr II, age 59, of Kalkaska died Friday, December 6, 2013 at Kalkaska Memorial Hospital. Harvey was born on February 25, 1954 in Pontiac, MI. to Harvey and Corrine (Rocheleau) Carr Sr. He was raised in Pontiac, and graduated with his GED from Pontiac Northern High School. After school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp where he served as Private First Class, and after his discharge he continued his involvement in the National Guard with the rank of E5 for approx. 15 years.
On February 21, 1982 in White Lake Michigan, he married the former Margaret S. Thompson. Harvey worked for the Oakland County Department of Public Works for 20 years before retiring in July of 2000. He had spent many summers camping and canoeing with his family in Grayling, and moved to Kalkaska in 2005 where he could enjoy his love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, tinkering with anything mechanical, and was extremely interested in anything to do with the Civil War.
He was a member of the Grayling Eagles, the Pontiac Moose Lodge, and was also the union steward for Oakland County Employees Union (OCEU).
He is survived by his wife Margaret, children Stephani (Kenneth) Hannahs of Virginia Beach, Peggy (Tony) Racey of Raleigh North Carolina, and James (Amber) Carr of Vinton, Virginia, and his six grandchildren Shawna, Alyssah, Fairuza, Dean, Annabelle, Lydia, his siblings Joe, Zelma Alexander, Debra Mason, Steve, Keith and Pat. Also surviving is an uncle James Carr, mother-in-law Norma Thompson, brother-in-laws Walter and Douglas Thompson, and sister-in-law Rebecca Behm.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place, and an Irish wake service will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to K.A.I.R. of Kalkaska.
Arrangements were made by the Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home, our family serving yours.
