Kenneth Duane Coppock Obituary
Kenneth Duane Coppock, 71, of Kalkaska, passed away at Munson Medical Center on Tuesday, July 9, 2013. He was born in Hastings on February 5, 1942 to the late Paul and Virginia (Babcock) Coppock.
Ken married Sharon Lee Forward on June 8, 1963 in Battle Creek. They moved to Kalkaska in 1973 where they raised their family. Ken retired from Dowell Schlumberger after 29 years of service and then went on to work for Marsh Industrial of Kalkaska and retired from there in 2009.
He was very active in the Kalkaska community with the Boy Scouts, youth groups and Big Brothers. In 2000 Kalkaska honored Ken by naming him Citizen of the Year. He was also a Kiwanian and was very active in the Kalkaska United Methodist Church.
Ken enjoyed rock hunting and searching for the perfect agate, metal art, and photography. Always handy to have around, Ken could fix anything. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Ken is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Sharon; his loving children, Deborah Kay (Randall) Ming of Kentwood, Kenneth Duane (Lorie) Coppock II of Kalkaska, David Paul Coppock of Interlochen, Scot Thomas (Manuela) Coppock of Lincoln, Nebr., and Ann Marie (Randy) Peasley of Sault Ste. Marie; nine cherished grandchildren; and his dear brothers, Richard (Joyce Laverne) Coppock of Mo. and Gary Coppock of Texas.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home with visitation being held one hour prior to the service. Randy Peasley of the First Church of Christ in Sault Ste. Marie will be officiating.
