Carl J. Ellis, Jr.
Carl J. Ellis, Jr., age 87 of Clarksville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2014 while at Signature Healthcare of Erin.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, with his sons, Pastors Larry W. Ellis and Wilbert L. Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Tatum-Coleman Cemetery, Houston County.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, and 9 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home.
Carl entered this life on January 31, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan, son to the late Carl J. Ellis, Sr. and Della Coleman Ellis. He retired from Civil Service at Ft. Campbell following 32 years of dedicated service. Carl was a member of that "greatest generation", as he served and fought against tyranny with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a fine Christian man and belonged to the Faith Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Spears Ellis; brothers, Robert "Bobby" Ellis, Louis E. Ellis and Marvin (Loyde) Ellis; sister, Billie J. Sidney.
Left to cherish his memory, are his sons, Larry W. Ellis and wife Janet of Vanleer, TN, Wilbert L. Ellis and wife Kathy of Florence, KY; sister, Margie L. Sumner of Clarksville; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren.
