Ruby, William Francis "Bill"  
LTC (Ret) William Ruby Clarksville, TN Lieutenant Colonel (retired) William "Bill" Francis Ruby, 93, passed away on 18 August 2016 in Clarksville, Tennessee. Bill Ruby was born 5 November 1922 in Roseville, Michigan to the late Harley Clifton Ruby and Roseanna Marie McKenna. He graduated from Eastland High School in Roseville, Michigan. He was a career Army officer whose service included assignments with both the 11th and 101st Airborne divisions; he was a master parachutist. He retired after serving 27 years in the Army, and was a Veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the military, Bill worked in construction where he was known for his attention to detail, his candor and his occasional pranks. He was active in both his church and in his community. Among many services performed for Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, he was an altar server during Mass and a Eucharistic Minister who often brought Communion to those who were homebound or hospitalized. Bill was a 32nd degree Mason, Past Master and Secretary for many years at Queen City Masonic Lodge 761 in Clarksville, Tennessee. He was also active in the York and Scottish Rites and he was a Shriner. Bill was a dignified, gracious gentleman - a model of integrity and generosity. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a selfless friend. He had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a serious man, but also had a mischievous sense of humor. He will be sorely missed. Bill is survived by his sister Mary Kathryne Henshaw, his daughters Dolores Angela Ruby, Karen Louise Ruby and Diana Lynn Ruby, his daughter-in-law Brenda Lanette Ruby, his seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dolores Ann Ruby and his son William Francis Ruby II. A Masonic Ceremony will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, 25 August at the McReynolds, Nave and Larson funeral home at 1209 Madison Street in Clarksville, Tennessee. A Funeral Mass will be conducted by Reverend Eric Fowlkes (who was regarded as a son by Bill and the family) on Friday, 26 August at 11:00AM in the Immaculate Conception Chapel on Franklin Street. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Alzheimers Association 2016 Walk to End Alzheimers - Clarksville, Tennessee. Shelton, Velmer  
Velmer Shelton Cumberland Furnace, TN Velmer Ann Shelton, age 85, of Cumberland Furnace, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2016 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. James Green officiating. Burial will follow in the Fletcher Cemetery. The Shelton family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home. Velmer entered into this life on April 11, 1931 in Montgomery County to Earl Walker Black and Lennie Paulean Barbee Black. She was a loving wife to the late Grady Thomas Shelton and a devoted homemaker. Velmer was a Baptist. In addition to her husband she goes to be reunited with her daughters Carolyn Sue Akin and Debra Shelton. Velmer is survived by her daughter, Sandra Olsen; siblings, Billy Black, Pat Black, and Patricia Widener; grandchildren, Jennifer, Kendra, and Devin; and great grandchildren, Kerra, Isabella, Ashelynn, and Rylee. Springer, John Barry  
John Barry Springer Clarksville, TN John Barry Springer, age 59, of Clarksville, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016, at his residence. John was born May 18, 1957, in Davidson County, TN, to the late John Springer and Mildred Claytor Springer. Mr. Springer was an avid golfer. He loved animals, the outdoors, and University of Alabama football. John was active in Clarksville fellowships and was a member of First Christian Church. Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 2, at 7:00 PM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Dr. Felts Dent officiating. Visitation will be Friday, September 2, from 5:00 PM until the hour of service, at the funeral home. John is survived by his wife, Elena Hines. He is the father to Ashley and John, and brother to Rebecca, Angela, and Laura. Stapp, Ronald Edward  
Ronald Edward Stapp Dover, TN Ronald Edward Stapp, age 69, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Ron was born April 15, 1947, in Northbrook, IL, to the late Edward Willard Stapp and Olga Zlabes Stapp. Ron proudly served his country for over 22 years, in the United States Army. He retired as a Master Sergeant on July 20, 1987, with multiple medals and awards. Mr. Stapp was also a member of the American Legion (Post 233), the VFW of Dover (Post 4730), and several other veterans organizations. He was also an animal lover and was a part of the Stewart County Animal Management Program. Ron will always be remembered for being a provider and his constant giving to others. Celebration of Life will be held Monday, August 29, at 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Rev. David Banister officiating. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, where full military honors will be rendered. Visitation will be Sunday, August 28, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, and Monday, August 29, from 9:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home. Ron is survived by his wife, Juanita Stapp; son, Bobby (Ann) Crain of Dover; four daughters, Natasha (Todd) Lindahl of Clarksville, Natalie (Joshua) Kazsuk of Clarksville, Sandy (Gregg) Beyor of Bladenboro, NC, and Cathy Norfleet of Bowling Green, KY; two sisters, Sharon (John) Kinstrey of Fayetteville, NC and Candace (Roger) Bush of Pembroke, KY; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bobby Crain, Todd Lindahl, Joshua Kazsuk, Steven Norfleet, Roger Bush, John Kinstrey, and Steven Massey. Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
