Former Henry Countian Aleene Akers Clemmons, age 90 of Cumberland Furnace, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Signature Healthcare in Clarksville. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris, TN.

Jerry Harwell will officiate. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery between Como and Cottage Grove. Family members will serve as Pallbearers. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and after 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Born July 16, 1922, in Dresden, she was a daughter of Carl and Etta May Powers Akers, now both deceased. She was married on Feb. 9, 1945, to Curtis Clemmons, who died January 14, 1990. She grew up in the Como area and went to school in Cottage Grove. She was a member of New Providence United Methodist Church in Clarksville and worked for several years a media aide in the Montgomery County School System. A family member said she enjoyed quilting, reading, gardening and playing bridge.

She leaves four sons, Van (Evelyn) Clemmons of Cumberland Furnace, Ronald (Dixie) Clemmons of Tennessee Ridge, Steven (Paula) Clemmons of Purcellville, VA and Michael (Bobbie) Clemmons of Whiteville; one sister, Faye (Joe) Lanius of Cahokia, IL; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a son, John Clemmons; her twin sister, Pauline Akers; and a brother, Edward "Mutt" Akers.

Memorials may be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church building fund, 380 Dover Road, Clarksville, TN 37042.
