Oliver Delong Obituary
Oliver Delong, age 84 of Clarksville, TN, died on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at his residence.
He was born on August 29, 1927 in Davisport, KY to the late Emery Delong and Elizabeth Mollette Delong. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Paige.
Funeral service will be Monday, March 5, 2012 at 12 p.m., at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel, with Rev. Steve Lannom. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, with Full Military Honors. Visitation will be Monday, March 5, 2012 from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Oliver was a supply manager for Acme Boot Company. He was also a Tech SGT with the US Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Smith Delong of Clarksville, TN; three daughters, Lois (Ernest) Bannister of Plano, TX, Theresa (Robert) Howard of Dallas, TX and Janet Bartee of Clarksville, TN; a brother, Arvel Delong; a sister, Ida Alice Fyffe; three grandchildren, Brian Oliver Sheppard, Damien Bartee and Eric Bannister.
Military will serve as Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2008 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203.

I remember my time with Oliver at Smithfield Industries. He was quite the character. I always enjoyed his laugh and looked forward to coming to work because of him. I remember him introducing me to Yoo Hoo which I love and have now passed down to my daughter! I loved my brief time with him. I pray that his family has comfort during this difficult time.

I didn't know you personally but I knew your grandson, Damien. If he is half the man you were the world has suffered a major loss. Damien mentions your influence so I am grateful you helped influence my friend.
