Jane Barksdale Dowlen

Jane Barksdale Dowlen, passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on June 16, 2013. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Jane was born to the late Mayor William Wallace Barksdale Jr. and Sarah R. Barksdale, January 15, 1944 in Hartford, CT.

Jane was a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, MO. and Austin Peay State University. She was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church and was involved in many local clubs. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was also an avid Master Gardener.

Survivors include her husband, Richard M. Dowlen; children, Sarah D. Hodgens, (Jeffrey) Birmingham, AL; Richard M. Dowlen, Jr. (Daphne) Clarksville, TN; and William B. Dowlen, (Amanda) Birmingham, AL; sisters, Sally Uffelman, (Rucj) Vienna, VA; Gay Marquardt(Charles) Fort Worth, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Grandchildren; Jack, Ella, Grant, Wyatt, Ricci, Nash, and Rusher were her passion and delight.

Visitation will be held at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home Clarksville, TN on Tuesday, June 18 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral service Trinity Episcopal Church on Wednesday June 19, 2013 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to the or Trinity Episcopal Church of Clarksville, TN.
