David Lawrence "Fox" Bowers

David Lawrence "Fox" Bowers, age 82, of Clarksville, passed away on Friday, February 15, at Gateway Hospital due to complications from a stroke.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 18, 2013 from 4-6 p.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, 1510 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37040. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 9 a.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with burial at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY at 11 a.m.

David was born in Woodlawn, TN on August 15, 1930 and was a 1948 graduate of Woodlawn High School. He served in the Army from 1952-1954 and was a member of the Army Reserves until 1960. He married Wilma Cenith Shaffer of Lawrenceburg, TN on January 26, 1957. David was a 23-year employee of the Frosty Morn Meat Company in Clarksville and retired from Wal-Mart. He was a member of the Hilldale Church of Christ.

David was the son of the late Gip Thomason Bowers and Willie Mae Crotzer Bowers. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wilma Bowers; son Randy Joel Bowers of Windsor, Ontario Canada; daughter Patricia Ann Bowers and her husband, James Eifert, of Austin, TX; two grandchildren, Alexandra and Patrick Eifert of Austin, TX; brothers, Daniel Bowers of Florence, AL, and Robert Bowers of Clarksville; and sister, Rachel Hudson of Beloit, WI. He is preceded in death by two children, Thomas Ellison and Cindy Lou; brothers Willis, John, Paul, and Phillip; and sisters Eva Jones, Eddie Terrell, Sarah Margaret Bowers, and Mary Emma Jones.

Pallbearers will be Ken Gossett, Jeff Burkhart, Don Jones, Todd Moore, Grant Shaw, and Ed Pennington. Honorary Pallbearers will be Virgil Chester, Hubert Griffy, Jr., Darol Walker, J.D. Burkhart, John Rasori, George Rawlins, and the elders and deacons of Hilldale Church of Christ. Burial will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY.
