MELNYK, EDWARD  
EDWARD MELNYK, 79 ST. AUGUSTINE - Edward Melnyk, age 79, of St. Augustine, and formerly of Lakeland, went home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2015, at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility in St. Augustine, surrounded by his wife and family. Ed was born and raised in Elk Point, Alberta, Canada. After completing his high school studies Ed married his bride and sweetheart, Beatrice, then continued his secondary studies at the University of Alberta where he received a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering. Upon graduation, and motivated by his adventurous spirit he began his mining career high in the Andes Mountains in Cerro de Pasco, Peru South America, where he mined copper deep underground. In 1967, he relocated to Tucson, Arizona, to broaden his career experience mining copper in an open-pit with Anaconda Copper Company. In 1974, Edward relocated to Lakeland, Florida, where he completed his career strip-mining phosphate with International Mineral and Chemical Corporation (IMC) where he retired after attaining the position of Florida Operation's Production Manager. In 2012, he and his wife, Beatrice, moved to St. Augustine, where they have resided for the past 3 years. Throughout his adventurous life, Edward not only loved his family and job, but thoroughly enjoyed traveling, covering the entire United States by car. He and Beatrice also traveled extensively to Europe, the Caribbean, Hawaii and Canada. Edward is best remembered for loving Jesus, his Savior, and he was a longtime member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, Florida. In his spare time, his favorite hobbies were hunting deer, turkey and hogs, as well as deep sea fishing and golfing. Above all, Edward will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and he will be deeply missed. A celebration of his life will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, January 31, 2015, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. Flowers are gratefully declined and those wishing may make a contribution in his memory to AmVets or to the Wounded Warrior Project. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Beatrice I. Melnyk of St. Augustine; a daughter Diana Justice, and her husband, Keith, of St. Augustine; sons David E. Melnyk, and his wife, Marlowe of Fellsmere, FL, and Frank J. Melnyk, and his wife, Suzanne of Mulberry, FL; a sister Mary MacIntosh of Alberta, Canada; brothers, Onufer Melnyk, Gerald Melnyk, Tommy Melnyk and Boris Melnyk, all of Alberta, Canada; and seven grandchildren. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

RAYMOND A. McLEOD, 66 BARTOW - Raymond A. McLeod, age 66, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015, at his residence in Bartow of multiple myeloma. Born November 27, 1948, in Danville, VA, to Wallace Raymond and Virgina Simmons McLeod. Mr. McLeod was a resident of Bartow since 1970, moving from Charleston, SC. He was owner and operator of Mid Florida Marine in Bartow for over 20 years. He was formerly with Agrico Chemical and IMC Phosphate for 20 years. Mr. McLeod is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne McLeod of Bartow; two daughters, Lindsay McLeod and Heather Russell both of Bartow; first wife, Gale Messenger of Bartow; two step sons, Derek Harpe (Stacie) of Fort Meade and Drew Harpe (Angela) of Roswell, GA; granddaughters, Karson Russell and Addyson McLeod; sister, Elise Stuntebeck (Tom) of Mount Pleasant, SC. ESSIE MAE MORGAN, 93 WINTER HAVEN - Mrs. Essie Mae Morgan, age 93, a resident of Lehigh Acres passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015, at the Hospice House due to natural causes. Mrs. Morgan was born November 3, 1921, in Newton, Alabama to William Samuel and Lulu Mae (Travis) Tindell. Essie graduated from Graceville High School in Holmes County. She was a resident of Lehigh Acres since 2009 coming from Winter Haven. Essie was a homemaker and a member of The Way at Inwood Baptist Church. She enjoyed needle point, sewing and crafts. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Morgan; 2 sisters, Mary & Mildred. Essie is survived by her loving family; 2 sons, Kelly (Nancy) Morgan of Lehigh Acres and Frank (Joanne) Morgan of Boynton Beach; brother, Hugh (Ann) Tindell of Pensacola; sister, Shirley (Earl) Hortman of Okeechobee; and 2 grandsons, Joshua & Christopher Graveside service will be 2PM Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens. DOROTHY MARIE (DEERING) McNABB, 69 MULBERRY - Dorothy Marie (Deering) McNabb, 69, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2015, after a brief battle with cancer. The daughter of the late Arthur William Deering and Marie Fitz-Patrick (Mussack) Deering, she was born on August 23, 1945, in Rocky Mount, NC. She grew up in Bronxville and Shrub Oak, NY, graduating from Ladycliff Academy in Peekskill, NY, in 1963, and St. Bonaventure University in 1966. Settling in the Allentown, PA, area with her children, Dorothy spent several years as an English teacher in the Parkland School District as well as a realtor with Singer-Hacker Real Estate. She married her late husband Donald F. McNabb in 1985, and retired with him from Allentown to Mulberry, FL, in 1995, where they resided full time and where she recently served as Secretary of the Fairway Oaks HOA. She is survived by her son, Arthur Hammond of Boulder, CO; daughters, Kathleen Hammond Schmidt of Bloomingdale, IL, and Rebecca Hammond Vaughan (Brian) of Nantucket, MA; brothers, Timothy Deering (Donna) of New Bern, NC, and Arthur Deering; granddaughters, Ashley and Taylor Schmidt; and step-children, Thomas McNabb (Kelly) of Blandon, PA, and Jane Page (Eric) of Wilmington, DE. In addition to her late husband, Donald, she is predeceased by her beloved sister, Suzanne Deering and step-children, James McNabb and Carol McNabb. A funeral Mass will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Lakeland, FL, on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at 10AM.
