ALEXANDER, EDWIN DAVID - Winter Haven  
EDWIN DAVID ALEXANDER, 79 WINTER HAVEN - Edwin David Alexander, 79, died Thursday, April 16, 2015. He was born on August 2, 1935, in Bristol, CT to David and Eleanor Hess Alexander. Edwin served three years in the U.S. Army. He moved to this area in 1973, and worked at the Bartow Air Base in maintenance for seventeen years. His favorite hobbies were working on lawn equipment and going dancing to country music. Edwin was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond and a sister, Blanche Grozik, both of Terryville, CT. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Huxley Alexander; sons, Thomas (Sylvia) Silvernail of Winter Haven, FL, Edwin Alexander Jr. of Bartow, and David (Karen) Alexander of Winter Haven, FL; brothers, Roland of Plymouth, CT and David of Meriden, CT; sisters, Irene Eldred of Bristol, CT, Leona Eldred of Meriden, CT, Harriet Hosford of Waterbury, CT, and Geraldine Russ of Griffin, GA; seven grandchildren, Jillian Silvernail of Concord, NC, Renee Whitehead of Bartow, FL, Kirsten Kennedy of Fort Riley, KS, Caylyn McDowell of Lakeland, FL, Heath Alexander of Alma, GA, and Emily and Rebecca Alexander of Winter Haven, FL; and five great grandchildren, Alexis and Bailey Whitehead of Bartow, FL, Eli and Easton Kennedy of Fort Riley, KS, and Linleigh McDowell of Lakeland, FL. A celebration of Edwin's life will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, from 6 to 8 pm at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Winter Haven. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, FL.

ALCORN, SHARON ROSE  
SHARON ROSE ALCORN, 64 Polk Co. School Board LAKELAND - Sharon Rose Alcorn, age 64, of Lakeland, went home to be with Jesus in the evening of Friday, April 10, 2015, at Winter Haven Hospital following a heroic battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born to the late Philip and Delilah Green on August 8, 1950, in Du Quoin, Illinois, but was proud to have called Lakeland home since 1983. Sharon graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She dedicated over 31 years to the Polk County School Board, committed to helping special needs children across the county and was devoted to ensuring they led rich and meaningful lives. Sharon was passionate about many things, but most significantly to helping others. She was actively involved in the Polk County Special Olympics and the Very Special Arts programs. On any given day she could be found putting service above self and encouraging others to succeed when the world said they couldn't. Sharon is survived by her two sons and their wives, Philip Teddy & Shelley Alcorn and James Sam & Haili Alcorn, her grandsons Isaiah and Elijah and her canine children and grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 16 at Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 S. Ingraham Ave., Lakeland, FL, beginning at 7 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-7 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her honor to the Humane Society of Polk County, which she loved; or the Winter Haven Hospital Cassidy Cancer Center Foundation, which showed her such love. ANDERSON, CAROLEE  
CAROLEE ANDERSON, 75 Winter Haven Hospital POLK CITY - Mrs. Carolee Anderson, age 75, of Polk City passed away Monday, April 13, 2015, in Winter Haven. Mrs. Anderson was born to Angles & Ethelyn Trosclair in New Orleans, LA, and had lived in this area since 1981. She was an Insurance Processor with Winter Haven Hospital in the Business Office. Mrs. Anderson was of the Catholic faith and loved dancing and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, James Anderson of Polk City, her daughter, Lisa (Terry) Wells of Polk City, a brother, Carlton Trosclair of New Orleans, her sister, Diane Billiot of Jean Lafite, LA, 2 grandchildren, Jeffry & Jarett Thomas and several nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will take place Friday from 6 until 8 PM at the Kersey Funeral Home, Auburndale.
