WOSCHKE, ELEONORE LAURA
ELEONORE LAURA WOSCHKE, 88 WINTER HAVEN - Eleonore (Ulrich) Woschke, 88, of Winter Haven, FL, and Folsom, CA, died October 13, 2014 from natural causes. Eleonore was born July 4, 1926, on a farm in Danzig, Germany. As an only child she grew up strong and independent. WWII swept across this Eastern part of Germany forcing Eleonore, her Mother and Father to leave their home and the approaching war. Eleonore and her Mother fled to Denmark where they spent 4 years in a refuge camp. Eleonore finally made it to America, which had always been her dream. Eleonore met Ernest Fredrick Woschke at a YMCA dance in New York. They were married on a 1950s reality show. Bride and Groom on NBC. Their first home was in New York. When Ernest secured a job at the Government Printing Office they moved to Washington, D.C. This is where they raised their two daughters: Celeste and Diana. Eleonore cared for the home and worked part-time as an administrator for the Seven Day Adventist Hospital in Tacoma Park, Maryland. She loved to work in her garden, sew for her children, go to shows at the Kennedy Center and listen to the Marine Corps Marching Band. Upon retirement Ernest and Eleonore moved to Winter Haven, Florida. They enjoyed going to Bush Gardens, Bok Tower, and playing cards with their friends. Eleonore created a lovely garden in the heat of the Florida Sun. She also continued to sew, creating beautiful art pieces in Crewel. Eleonore (she) always believed in helping others and volunteered for many years at Winter Haven Hospital. Ernest passed away in 2001. Eleonore has lived the past three years in an Assisted Living Facility in Folsom, California, closer to both her daughters. She always had a kind heart and a desire to help others. When a new German resident moved in that could not speak English very well, Eleonore served as the interpreter. Everyone who knew her found her a gentle and kind person, with a dose of that German independence. Eleonore is survived by her 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters. A memorial service will be held January 24 at 1:00 in the Chapel of Crisp-Coon Funeral Home, 201 First Street South, Winter Haven, FL, 33880. (863) 294-4141.
