WALTER E. 'GENE' COSTLOW, 90 LAKELAND - Walter E. 'Gene' Costlow, 90, formerly of St. Michael, PA, died April 12, 2015, at his home in Lakeland. Mr. Costlow was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps and the Boeing Company. He is survived by his loving family. Interment will be at the Quantico National Cemetery.

COUNTER, MARY RUTH  
MARY RUTH COUNTER, 103 Homemaker WINTER HAVEN - Mary Ruth Counter, 103, stepped peacefully from this life into glory on Thursday, April 16, 2015. Mary was born in Jewett, Ohio on August 14, 1911, and moved to Winter Haven at age 12. Both Mary and husband Clifford graduated from Winter Haven High School in the class of 1930, and married in 1934. They were both life-long members of Beymer UMC and she was a resident of Lake Howard Heights, assisted living facility at the time of her passing. Mary Ruth Albaugh Counter was selected and honored to be 'Miss Winter Haven' in the city's 2011, Sentinel Celebration. She has two sons, Jerry Counter (wife Jo Ann) of Winter Haven and John Counter (wife Mary Charlotte, deceased) of Tampa. Mary Ruth Counter had 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Clifford Leroy Counter and brother, Sam Albaugh. Funeral Services will be at Beymer UMC on Monday, April 20, 2015, at 2:00 PM with visitation prior to service. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting a contribution in her honor to Cornerstone Hospice, 259 Havendale Blvd. N.W., Winter Haven, FL 33881.

ELSIE IRENE COOK, 95 Homemaker FORT MEADE - Elsie Irene Cook, 95, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Cook was born February 14, 1920, in Fort Meade, FL. She was a homemaker and lifelong resident of Fort Meade. Elsie was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Meade. She was a member of the Joy Club and past choir member. She was a past Matron of the Eastern Star, Fort Meade Chapter 47. She also loved gardening, sewing & embroidery. She was preceded in death by her husband Loyd Cook and infant son Loyd M. Cook. She is survived by four daughters, Katherine Parrish (Joe), Marilyn Henderson, Laverne Layton (Charles) and Pauline Bass (Bill), sister, Yvonne Day (Harvey) and sister-in-law, Juanita Parker, seven grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her two dogs Happy & Bridget. Family will receive friends Saturday, April 18, 2015, from 10 to 11 am at the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade. Funeral service will follow 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Joe Parrish and Kenny Slay officiating. Burial will be held at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Fort Meade, FL. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund or Florida Baptist Children's Home. Condolences to family at www.mcleanfuneralhome.net

BETTY A. CRAIG, 80 LAKELAND - Betty A. Craig, 80, we will miss you Mom. Betty was born in Thunder Bay, Canada, on 3/11/35, and passed away on 4/12/15, in Lakeland, FL. She is survived by husband Kenneth Craig, daughters Lori Steele and Susan Craig, son David Craig, daughter-in-law Kelly Craig, grandchildren David K Craig, and Kenneth N. Weeks, great grandchildren Makayla Craig, and Alera and Tanner Gardner. Her son-in-law David Steele and son Kenneth Richard precedes her. Service will be held at Lakeland Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Saturday the 18th. The gathering starts at 12 p.m., followed by service at 1 p.m. There will be a gathering at the Craig residence following the service. All are invited to join.
