EMMA JEAN BARFIELD Production Worker LAKELAND - Emma Jean Barfield, 78, went to be with the Lord Friday, August 28, 2015. She was born in Ocilla, GA April 11, 1937, and came to Lakeland in 1945. Emma was a member of Kathleen Baptist Church. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, C. J. and Vester Johnson; husband, Robert E. Barfield, Sr.; brother, J. C. Buchannon; sisters, Dorothy Hampton, Johnnie Whitman, Bessie Johnson, and Elizabeth Lanier. She is survived by sons, Robert Barfield and Steven Bar-field; daughter, Loma Pal-mes; grandsons, Adam Palmes and Charles Styron; granddaughter, Nic-hole Stevens; great grandsons, Jacob Palmes, Ethan Stevens, Adam Stevens, and Greyson Stevens; great granddaughter, Lillian Palmes. A visitation will be held 10:00am to 11:00am Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Kathleen Baptist Church. The funeral will be at 11:00am Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in Socrum Cemetery.

DIXON, JOE S.  
JOE S. DIXON, 79 AUBURNDALE - Joe S. Dixon, 79, died Sunday, August 30, 2015, at home. He was born September 29, 1935, in Greeneville, TN and was the son of the late Robert and Fleta Dixon. Mr. Dixon and family moved to Auburndale from Grundy, VA in 1973. He retired from Polk County School Board after working 40 years. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church of Auburndale. He is preceded in death by his wife, Gena Dixon in June of 2008. Mr. Dixon is survived by his sister, Claudine Dixon; two daughters, Debbie (Steve) Comparato of Auburndale and Jan King of Winter Haven; three grandchildren, Amanda King Needham, Matt Comparato, and Michelle Comparato Snider; and five great grandchildren, Allyssa Wilson, Whitney Wilson, Gunner Need-ham, Tyson Snider, and Tessa Snider. The family will have a gathering of friends from 6:00pm till 8:00pm Wedn-esday, September 2, 2015, at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Condolences may be sent at www.oakridgefuneral-care.com .

DRISKELL, LESSIE  
LESSIE DRISKELL, 98 LAKELAND - Lessie Driskell, 98, passed away on August 28, 2015. She was born October 26, 1916, to parents Dan and Rebecca Douglas in Douglas, Georgia. She was a resident of Lakeland for more than 60 years. She was a member of Central Avenue Baptist Church for many years before the congregation dispersed. Lessie enjoyed time with her family, and could often be found in the company of her two favorite cats. Lessie is preceded in death by her husband, Walker Driskell. She is survived by her children, Pam Addison, Gail Davis (John), Jim O'Steen (Gwen), and Sharon Grant; her sister, Carolyn Leddy; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 3 great great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held 12:30-2pm on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at the Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 S. Bartow Rd., Lakeland, with a funeral service at 2pm. Interment will follow in the Lakeland Memorial Gardens.

HOUSEMAN, DANIEL EDWARD  
DANIEL EDWARD HOUSEMAN, 46 LAKELAND - Daniel Edward Houseman, 46, a lifelong resident of Lakeland, Florida, passed away suddenly on August 11, 2015. Daniel worked as a home health aide, Disney employee, and owned his own business 'B Charming Designs'. Daniel loved to travel, collect antiques, and help all kinds of strays be they dogs, cats, birds, or people. He is survived by his parents, Stephen and Mary Houseman; his sisters, Deborah Rivers and Dana Pravato; nephews, Ian Pravato and Stephen Rivers; nieces, Destiny Rivers and Isabelle Pravato; and many loving friends. As a veteran, Daniel was inurned at the Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, Florida, on August 28, 2015, after a simple graveside service.
