DALEY, THOMAS P.  
THOMAS P. DALEY, Jr., 84 LAKELAND - Thomas P. Daley, Jr. passed away March 22, 2015, at L.R.M.C. Tom was born on May 19, 1930, in Worcester, MA, and was the eldest of three children. He moved to Lakeland 44 years ago from Tantallon, MD. Tom was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country as a Green Beret paratrooper in the 187th Regimental Combat Team during the Korean War. He was a retired Sales Manager for BBS, and an entrepreneur owning his own lounge 'Tom Daleys' as well as The Smokehouse Restaurant in Lakeland. He was a member of the Rakkasan's, AMVETS and the Winners Circle. Tom was a sports fanatic and a loyal supporter for the Detroit Tigers during spring training and attended fantasy camp with his beloved Boston Red Sox. He supported his children and grandchildren in their sports activities and was either in regular attendance cheering them on or actively coaching. Tom was proud of his Irish heritage and given his gift of gab; he never knew a stranger. He was kind hearted, had a great sense of humor and passed down the tradition of shucking and eating oysters to the entire family. Mr. Daley was preceded in death by his son Timothy B. Daley. Survivors include former spouse Peggy Daley, sons Thomas P. Daley III (Sherry) and Michael P. Daley, two daughters Peggy D. Obel (Clark), Theresa M. Daley, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brother Kevin Daley (Mary), sister Ellen Prokop (Mike), and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Sunday, March 29 from 4pm-6pm at Heath Funeral Chapel and a Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 30 at 10:00 am at Shepherds Community United Methodist Church.

GUNZINGER, JUNE L.  
JUNE L. GUNZINGER, 73 LAKELAND - June L. Gunzinger passed away surrounded by her family, Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, after a brief illness. June is survived by her husband, Bill Gunzinger of Lakeland; her daughter, Lisa Thibideau and her husband, Michael of Lebanon, N.H.; her son, James Steinmetz and his wife, Lauran of Grantham, N.H.; a sister, Rachel Darrah and her husband, Tom of Wilder, VT; a brother, Edwin and his wife, Dorothy of White River Jct, VT; sister-in-law, Judith Leavitt of Wilder, VT; six grandchildren and one great-grandson, Katelyn and Kyle Thibideau of Enfield, N.H., Kasey Steinmetz and her son, Mason of Hartland, VT, Kameron Steinmetz of Grantham, Morgan and Jessica Purcell; and many wonderful nieces and nephews whom she loved and was very proud of. June was born Nov. 5, 1941, to Henry B. and Charlotte (Elliot) Leavitt of Wilder, VT. June is predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Henry and William Leavitt, two sisters, Jean Leavitt and Janet Ford. June graduated Hartford High School in 1960. She worked for NE Telephone Co. as a telephone operator. She worked at Gulf Side and Twin State Bowl bowling centers with her first husband Jeff Steinmetz in the late 60s to early 80s. She married Bill Gunzinger on Sept. 27, 2002. June retired from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center after 20 years in 2004; she moved to Lakeland that same year. If you knew June, you knew her love of family and friends, her huge and generous heart, her infectious laugh and beautiful smile and the best hugs you would ever receive. There will be a graveside service for the family and a Celebration of Life at the Wilder Club/library in Wilder, VT, on Saturday, June 20, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

JOHNSON, BERNARD C.  
BERNARD C. JOHNSON, Jr., 90 LAKELAND - Bernard C. Johnson, Jr., passed away on his 90th birthday, March 25, 2015. He was born March 25, 1925, in Winston Salem, NC, and later moved to the Lakeland area in 1954 from Graham, NC. He served his country as a Combat and Glider Pilot in the 9th Air Force during WWII. Mr. Johnson was President of Polk Federal Savings and later retired from First Federal. He was very active in the community, serving as Deacon & Elder at First Presbyterian Church, member of Lone Palm Country Club, former Adjutant Post 4 American Legion, Past Director of Lakeland Rotary, Lakeland Yacht and Country Club, Friends of the Library and Camp Fire Girls, Past President PTA Cleveland Court Elementary School and Lakeland Chamber of Commerce and volunteered at Southwest Elementary School. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Betty McCranie Johnson; children, Bernard C. Johnson, III, Deborah Boyd, Judi Cowan and Betsy Ann Snow; stepchildren, Troy M. Akins and Leslie L. Askew; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Interment will take place at a later date in Winston Salem, NC, at God's Acre Moravian Cemetery.
