BARTOW - Albert L. Blackford, age 92, passed away from natural causes, Thursday, October 25, 2012 in Bartow.
Born October 11, 1920 in Wilmore, KY, he was the son of the late Melvin Knight and Nancy Edith Blackford. Mr. Blackford was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a Mason for over 50 years and a life member of the American Legion, Post #3, the V.F.W of Bartow, D.A.V. and a member of Homeland First Baptist Church. He was also an Honorary Kentucky Col-onel.
Along with his parents, Mr. Blackford is preceded in death by his brother William B. Blackford, two sons: William L. Blackford, Hugh Lynn Blackford and granddaughter Tracey Blackford. Mr. Blackford is survived by his wife of 65 years Gladys Blackford of Bartow, son Melvin Blackford and wife Keitha of Bartow, and his grandson Daniel Blackford and wife Linda of Bartow. He also leaves behind his great grandchildren; Cody, Shawn, Cory, and Troy.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 26th from 6PM to 8PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow. Funeral services will follow Saturday at 11:00AM at the First Baptist Church in Homeland. Interment will follow at Gandy Cemetery in Connersville.
