TALLAHASSEE - Carl Early, age 86, passed away from pneumonia Sunday, April 6, 2014 in Tallahassee.
Mr. Early was born on August 31, 1927 in Medulla, FL. Carl attended Lakeland High School and the University of Florida. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a Yeoman 3rd Class Submarine Radar Operator. After the war, Carl returned to Polk County to work in the phosphate mining industry as an Engineer. From there he would go on to own and operate Omega Steel Corporation in Bartow. In 1975 Carl married Loraine Snider Goss, who precedes him in death after 39 years of marriage. Carl and Loraine were members of the Victory Assembly of God Seniors Group and attended the Bartow First Assembly of God. After retirement Mr. Early spent many hours in his woodshop, where he took great pleasure in making unique rocking chairs for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carl is survived by a son, Steve Early, a daughter, Diane Crumbaker, five grandchildren; Brian Crumbaker, Matt Crumbaker, Jordan Crumbaker, Kelly Crumbaker, and Meagan Crumbaker. He also leaves behind three step sons; Gary Goss, Pat Goss, Timothy Goss, six step grandchildren Matt Goss, Timothy Goss, Virginia Goss, Paderic Goss, Madison Goss, and eight step great grandchildren.
A private family service will be held in Tallahassee, FL.
