LAKE WALES - Daniel Gonzalez passed away peacefully at home, July 12, 2013, of heart failure.
He was born December 27, 1928, in Ybor City, Florida. Daniel graduated from Hillsborough High School, Class of 47. He joined the U.S. Navy and retired from the Coast Guard in 1977. He moved to Tampa and attended USF graduating with a Bachelor of Science & Sociology degree. In 1993, he moved to Lake Wales. He was an avid tennis player for 45 years, a Florida Gator fan and a friend to all who knew him.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Lola Carmen. He was predeceased by his son, Johnny Ray. Survivors include his son David Gonzalez; daughter, Rachel Payne, her husband, Steve; his granddaughter, Valerie Marie Payne; his daughter Linda Goins and her husband, Wayne; his son, Leslie Fox; his siblings, Anna Sanchez, Dalia Garcia and Johnny Gonzalez.
A memorial service held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2013, at the Lake Rosalie Clubhouse with Pastor Herb Schlenker officiating. A Celebration of his Life will follow.
