FARMINGTON, ME. - Doris Humston Gallo, of Farmington, Maine, formerly of Lake Alfred, Florida, died February 2nd, 2013, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine, after a long battle with COPD.
Doris leaves her husband of 49 years, Joseph Gallo, Jr.
She is also survived by her sons Joseph III, and his wife Lisa of Lake Alfred, Florida, Bryan Gregory and his wife Kelly of Ocean View, Delaware and Jeffrey Scott and his wife Denise of Reisterstown, Maryland.
Doris leaves behind her siblings Barbara Periman of Florida, Reverend Richard Humston of Tennessee, Marilyn Humston of Florida, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Doris was the daughter of Ruby (Carter) and Lloyd Humston of Auburndale, Florida.
She was born in Kentucky, and moved to Florida at the age of 5.
Doris graduated from Auburndale Senior High School in 1963. She also attended Polk Community College in Winter Haven, Florida, and Franklin Pierce University in Nashua, New Hampshire.
She had many talents including oil painting, watercolors, pen and ink, clay sculpting, pottery, writing, knitting and many other crafting activities.
Doris was the most cherished wife to her husband Joe, and a devoted mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren.
She also enjoyed traveling from Maine to Florida to visit with her children and grandchildren and her very special friends.
The family suggests that those who may desire, in lieu of flowers, consider a donation in her memory to the COPD Foundation.
