LAKELAND - Juanita Brown of Lakeland, FL, passed away at the age of 91 on July 7, 2013 of natural causes.
She was born August 6, 1921, in Ayden, NC to the parents of Alva Howard (Pat) and Gay Murphy, who moved to Florida when she was very young.
Though she lived in various parts of Florida during her younger years, she has been a Lakeland resident for the past 70 years. Having strong religious convictions, she was often active in Church affairs and is a member of South Side Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Brown in 1994, after 54 memorable years of marriage.
She is survived by 2 children, Donovan Brown (spouse: Cherry) of Poinciana, FL and Darlene Patt, (spouse: Paris) of New Smyrna Beach, FL, along with 2 step daughters, Bonnie Irby of Lakeland, FL and Harriett McNair of Ashburn, GA.
She had 2 brothers, Howard Earl (Buddy) Murphy and Alva Howard (Pat) Murphy , both deceased and 2 sisters, Thelma Smith, deceased, and her only surviving sibling is Betty Jean Giannini of Lakeland.
She also has 4 grandchildren, Scott Brown (spouse: Amy) and Todd Brown (spouse: Gina), both of Lakeland, FL, Alycia Hayes (spouse: Daniel) of Louisville, KY and Jason Patt of New Smyrna Beach, FL. She has 7 great grandchildren and their extended families.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM in the chapel at Lakeland Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, (2125 South Bartow Hwy, Lakeland) and Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM. on Thursday, July 11, 2013. Friends are invited to visit with family following the services at a location to be announced at the service.
