GAINESVILLE - Mr. Emil J. Napholz, 90, of Gainesville and formerly Lake Wales, Florida died on Friday, November 30, 2012, in Gainesville, of natural causes.
He was born on June 5, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio. He served in the United States Army during WW II and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War
. He was a retired engineer technician for NASA. He was a member of American Legion Post #8 in Winter Haven and the Elks and Moose in Lake Wales. He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Wales.
Emil was a hard worker and built three houses for his family, one in Cleveland, one in Sandusky OH, and one in Umatilla, FL. His work for NASA included work on the engine for the Atlas-Centaur section of the Saturn Moon launches. Emil was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Emil is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years Ann M. Napholz, daughters Patricia Larson and her husband Mark of Gainesville and Marianne Clark and her husband Mark of Cincinnati, Ohio, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and his sister Goldie Kelbowski of Zephyrhills. He was preceded in death by a son Michael Emil Napholz in 2001, a brother Paul Napholz, and a sister Annie Gall.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Rev. Pedro Zapata as celebrant. Interment will follow at Lake Wales Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by American Legion Post #8.
