MULBERRY - Mr. George Edward Minnamon, known by all as "Joe", born 10/01/39 in Princeton, NY, passed away on 11/24/12 at Tampa General Hospital from complications following a stroke.
He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the USAF for over 20 yrs. After his military career he moved to Mulberry, FL, and worked for Hillsborough County as a diesel mechanic. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 4588, Bossier City, LA; The American Legion Post 72, Mulberry, FL, and Royal Order of the Moose, Brandon, FL. Joe served as Post Commander of the Moose in Plant City, FL, for 8 yrs. and held a lifetime membership with a fellowship degree. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Riders Post 72, Mulberry, FL.
Survived by his wife of 44 yrs., Frances L. Minnamon; two sons, William S. Minnamon and Joseph E. Minnamon; two step sons, Douglas E. Dillon, Jr. and Cecil James Dillon; two grandsons, Vincent Minnamon and Matther Dillon; one granddaughter, Kristen Dillon Jones; great grandson, Micka Dillon; two brothers, Norman Minnamon and Richard Minnamon and one sister, Annie Minnamon Gruschew and numerous other family members.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 01, 2012 at the American Legion Post 72 in Mulberry at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made in Joe's honor to a local charity to help feed the hungry during this upcoming holiday season.
