LAKELAND - Georgiana "Ann" Collins, 88, our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was called home due to natural causes on January 5, 2013.
She was born in New Jersey December 23, 1924, the youngest of four children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jim and John Preston and her sister Edith deHagara.
Ann has been a resident of Florida since 1956 and a resident of Polk County since 1969, living in Winter Haven and finally in Lakeland. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lakeland.
Ann started her working career with Prudential Insurance Co., worked in the banking industry and retired from Polk Community College (Polk State College) in 1986 as Secretary to the Board of Trustees. She volunteered with The Polk Museum of Art, First United Methodist Church, Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) and Polk Reads.
Interests included her love of cats, as well as reading, sewing, traveling, beaches, bingo, volunteering, and most of all spending time with her family.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her daughters Elaine Kay and Robin Mett (Gary), her grandchildren Jason Kay (Brittany), Stacey Kay-Cuellar (Marcos) and Kristin Aldana (Paul) along with great grandchildren Ian, Lauren, Aiden, Alyssa, Alex and Ava. She is also survived by nieces Edie Marte, Lois Hamann and Janet Bailey.
A memorial service will be held at Oak Ridge Funeral Home, Winter Haven, January 12, 2013 at 10:00 am, followed by burial at Lakeside Cemetery, Winter Haven.
