LAKELAND - Howard Gollert - born June 23, 1925, passed away November 17, 2012, due to natural causes.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, son of Cyril and Flora Gollert, Howard Joined the RCAF in WWII - serving as an air frame mechanic. He married Audrey Smith in August, 1947. Howard worked for Northern Telecom for 35 years in Montreal, Caribbean, Tur-key, Greece, Middle East, Nigeria, Kenya, Algiers, South Africa, Europe and many other countries.
He joined the company CMC in California in 1973 and then returned to work for Northern Telecom in Miami. After retirement Howard and Audrey moved to Lakeland, Florida. He Joined The Salvation Army in 1990. Howard served as President of The Salvation Army Lakeland Men's Club and Director of its Emergency Disaster Services. He was Divisional Men's Fellowship Man of the Year (1999), and a member of Telephone Pioneers of America.
A good husband and much loved father, he is survived by his wife of 66 years Audrey; sons Alan and Howard (Kelly) and daughters Holly (George) Patterson and Anne (Tom) Hill; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also survived by sister Dorothy Feltrin, brothers Malcolm and James Gollert
Predeceased by parents Cyril and Flora Gollert, brothers Cy, Norman and Colin and sisters Margaret Keeley and Lillian Leahan.
Memorial service will be held Saturday 2pm at the Salvation Army worship center, 2620 Kathleen road, Lakeland.
In lieu of flowers donations to The Salvation Army would be appreciated.
