LAKELAND - James S. Royal, 80 of Lakeland, left this world to be in God's hands on July 7, 2013 due to heart failure.
James was born in Frostproof, Florida to the late James E. and Rena L. Royal on July 16, 1932. He graduated from Lake Wales High School in 1951. He immediately enlisted in the US Marine Corp where he served as a Sergeant. He was a combat veteran having served during the Korean War.
A dedicated Christian, family man and friend to all who knew him, James is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Loreda Royal, brothers, Alfred Royal and Carl Royal, sister, Reba Pearson, sons Brett Royal (wife Pam), Bart Royal (wife Chloe Ann) and Brad Royal, grandchildren Brandy Owens, Kaila Kitchens, Blake Royal, Brittany Royal, Melissa Mead, D.J. Keen, Shawn Royal, Kenneth Royal, Jessica Griffin, Tiffany Royal, Cindy Royal and 14 great grandchildren.
James was a shining beacon among us. He was a man of honor, faith and eternal optimism. All who knew and loved him shall miss him with mixed feelings of deep sorrow and happiness until we see you again.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM and Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in the chapel at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home and Serenity Gardens cemetery. He will be laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer located at 3350 Mall Hill Road, Lakeland, Florida 33810.
