WINTER HAVEN - Joe Timmons, Jr., 78, of Winter Haven passed on Thursday, April 18, 2013, due to heart failure.
He was a native of Monticello, FL but was reared and later returned to Winter Haven after retiring from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class with 20 years plus service. He also retired from Polk County School District as an assistant maintenance supervisor, in 1995.
Survivors are: devoted wife, Sumalee Timmons, daughters: Barbra Timmons, Bartow, and Bonita (William) Floyd, Winter Garden; twin sons: Joe III and Jim (Chabre) Timmons, all of Winter Haven; sister: Edna Timmons; brothers: Robert, Frank, and Walter (Clara) Timmons, all of Winter Haven, 12 grandchildren and other relatives and loving friends.
Visitations hours will be Friday, April 26, 2013 at First Missionary Baptist Church, 200 Ave R, N.E., 5 p.m. till 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church, Saturday, April 27, 2013, 11 a.m. with the Rev. C.E. Dollison, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Rolling Hills Cemetery, Winter Haven.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of D. A. Boyd & Sons Funeral Home, Palatka and James C. Boyd Funeral Home, Winter Haven.
